Hello World! For real this time.

Welcome to my blog Spirit-Led Steps. Why Spirit-Led Steps? I’m focused on living out God’s plan for my life which necessarily involves being under the Holy Spirit’s direction and leading. I’ve created this blog to chronicle the journey: the ups and downs, the re-routes – all characteristic of life in general. However, the difference is that since re-dedicating my life to Jesus three (now seven) years ago I have a new life (2 Corinthians 5:17): an abundant life, (John 10:10) an eternal life, (John 3:16) a life filled with purpose, (Psalm 139:16) and hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

Sometimes, I don’t maintain this perspective and feel as though I’m just going through the motions. Before coming to Christ, I went wherever I wanted to go, and during that time I made poor choices affecting me to this day. In 2014, I started to take measured steps with God in mind and the path has had many different trials and tests. Along the way, different doors of opportunity have remained closed or have turned out to be bitterly disappointing when I have opened them. It’s not all gloom and doom though other doors have had breakthrough and unexpected blessings behind them. Through it all both good and bad I’ve learnt a lot about myself: what I want and don’t want, my strengths, and my weaknesses. However, I have not yet fulfilled God’s purpose for my life. One indicator I believe is using my talents (Matthew 25:15) and gifts (1 Corinthians 12) another is regular church attendance (Hebrews 10:25) another one is becoming a Proverbs 31 woman. I’m sure I’ll blog about these and other indicators in due course.

So, what’s different in 2017? I want to go not where I think God would want me to go but go where God directs me. This requires being able to hear Him and obey Him. Easier said than done! (I think of Jonah on the obedience part). I question, I procrastinate and I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve made decisions purely based on emotion and feelings rather than reason or logic. It will require the challenge of stepping out in faith (Hebrews 11:6) and trusting God no matter what (Proverbs 3:5).

I also believe the reason you’re reading these words is because the Holy Spirit led you here. Join me as I blog my journey with my GPS (God’s Positioning System aka Bible) and Jesus lighting up the way
(John 8:12).

A man’s heart deviseth his way: But the Lord directeth his steps.

Proverbs 16:9 (KJV)

The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

Deuteronomy 31:8 (KJV)

Five Years Later

I wrote the above a whole five years ago hence the strikethroughs. Instead of deleting and replacing the incorrect dates and times; I’ve left them there to show this is what procrastination looks like. I recognised this in my 2017 draft post when I said ‘I question, I procrastinate…’ Certainly do.

‘I’m going to start a blog’, ‘I want to start a blog’, ‘I should start a blog’. Now five years later in 2023, I’ve started it. What stopped me from starting it years ago? Life plus myself and my own requirements I wanted to have in place to start – illustrations, layout, and features. I still want them but I’ve decided to just start and do all of that later.

I’m astonished it has been five years it doesn’t feel like five years. I must say the following is still true today.

However, I have not yet fulfilled God’s purpose for my life. One indicator I believe is using my talents (Matthew 25:15) and gifts (1 Corinthians 12) another is regular church attendance (Hebrews 10:25) another one is becoming a Proverbs 31 woman. I’m sure I’ll blog about these and other indicators in due course.’

It’s a journey. A journey I’ll blog about under the headings Heart, Soul, Spirit, Body, Mind. We all are made up of soul, spirit, and body. Heart and mind exist in the soul.  Our souls, spirits, and bodies are connected working together throughout life. A well-known saying is healthy body, healthy mind, healthy body, healthy mind. Let’s say healthy spirit, healthy mind, healthy body, healthy soul, and vice versa.

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (KJV)

Is there something you’ve been holding off – procrastinating about? Make a start today.
